I played CFB XX every waking minute for X days straight, here are my thoughts on the game

There has been a lot of talk online about the game being terrible, but this is mainly from the competitive community. While this challenge was one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever done, I realized pretty quickly that this game is not made for the competitive audience and should not be critiqued as such

The game’s movement is extremely fluid and sharp, which makes for a fun experience. Using the players with the shifty ability is awesome. I hope Madden adopts similar game speed. The different stadiums felt very unique, I felt the presentation and immersion is great (will talk about stadium pulse later)

That being said, a few critiques:

-A lot of random glitches in the game. The most notable is your cornerback matchups adjusting to “by speed” randomly mid play. This causes your entire defense to glitch out and give up a free touchdown, a casual player would not know why this happened or how to fix it. This happens VERY frequently

-Blocking adjustments take too long/don’t work half the time. There are workarounds, but again — a casual player would not know this. False starts under X seconds is also crazy annoying to deal with when the adjustment menu isn’t working correctly

-Quarterback overthrows are way too frequent, even with higher rated qb’s. Would be great if qb’s were more accurate but not game breaking

-Dropped interceptions are WAY too frequent. “No eyes, no pick” was the motto, but the motto apparently is also “eyes, no pick.” Should just be changed to “no pick” if we’re being real

-Stadium pulse is way too extreme at big stadiums. It goes beyond realistic, no ability to hot route/audible, play art glitching, no buttons above your receivers head, and on top of this it feels like your players play worse (more missed throws, not getting off press, missing blocks etc). Even highschool programs have silent signals to combat noise, kind of ridiculous to think a D1 qb can’t make a single hot route playing @ LSU. Cool for offline, but really ruins any semblance of competitive play online. Good players know this and just run cover X mid blitz every play when at home. Overall just generally unpleasant and frustrating experience to play online with. Smaller stadiums have a reasonable level to deal with

-Lower tiered matchmaking is non-existent. There needs to be a setting where you can choose to ONLY play against lower tiered teams if you are using one yourself. I played with tier X teams, set my search to play other tier X teams, and I matchup with LSU or Texas majority of the time. This is with multiple people in my chat searching lower tiered teams trying to matchup with me, so it’s not for a lack of available matchups. The search settings get completely ignored, which makes the lower tier teams completely unusable/irrelevant. Allow players to guarantee they matchup with a similar tier team (even with a longer wait time) and they will get used more. Half of my games were vs LSU, and I even got LSU X times in a row at one point. This NEEDS to be fixed

The last X points are the biggest for me as it pertains to online play, however I understand the game is not tailored to online comp gameplay. Overall, even though there’s a lot of craziness in the game, it is still FUN. If you are a causal player, I can totally see this game being awesome. If you are a more competitive player, this game will frustrate you though my games at home without stadium pulse affecting me were generally enjoyable. A few changes could make online comp gameplay more fun as well, but that is yet to be seen

Bonus tin foil hat theory:

I honestly believe the sliders are tweaked on 4th downs. The amount of crazy agg catches in triple coverage that happened on 4th down make it hard to ignore
