During the height of the civil war, FSA/AQ/Nusra/HTS would shell West Aleppo (Sunni majority) neighborhoods with Hell Cannons, killing a few thousand during their X week offensive in 2016 alone.

This was "revenge" for these neighborhoods not supporting the "2011 Revolution".
