I remember speaking years ago with the Head of one of the top X investment management firms in Indonesia by AUM. He told me this:

“Back in 2000, the market was rewarding. Stock picking was easy. You could blindfold yourself and just pick cheap multiples. Wait 6–12 months, and the multiples would normalize.”

That world? It's gone. Dead.

Now you can buy companies with excellent top line and bottom line growth, but the stock still collapses. And what do people say?

“It’s okay, I know what I’m holding.”

That’s delusion. That’s partying on the Titanic while the ship is cracking through an iceberg. The confidence is unearned, and the results speak louder than any pitch deck or factsheet.
