The first official Polkadot x Harbour Industrial Capital livestream just aired and it delivered some serious clarity on where Polkadot is headed.

From funding issues to ecosystem strategy, here are the key things I picked up while tuned in 👇

➠They went straight into it:
Should the Treasury be funding commercial projects with no real accountability?

The take? If it’s not a public good, it shouldn’t be using public funds, especially when some teams get paid but deliver nothing.

➠ OpenGov isn’t broken, but it has blind spots.
Most voters aren’t trained to assess complex proposals like VCs do. That mismatch leads to risky funding decisions—and it's starting to show.

➠That’s where Harbour Capital comes in.
They’re here to bridge the gap, focusing on seed and pre-seed funding for real builders.

They’ve already backed projects like @MandalaChain and @xcavateofficial , and they’re open to reviewing more.

➠ One point that really stood out:
Polkadot’s transparency is unmatched but it’s also why it gets so much heat.

Unlike other ecosystems that move behind closed doors, everything here plays out in public. It’s a strength, but it also invites more criticism.

➠They also highlighted key verticals they’re betting on
➛ Gaming (@PlayPudgyParty , @FIFARivals )
➛ Real World Assets ( tokenized real estate, stocks )
➛ DeFi ( @hydration_net, stablecoins)
➛ AI & Infra ( @origin_trail, @hyperbridge)

➠ Mario made a strong case:
If the Treasury is funding a commercial product, it should own a stake in it.
That way, when projects succeed, the ecosystem shares the reward.

➠Oh... and if you’re building?
You can pitch directly to the HIC Advisory Board.
They’ll review everything, but only the strongest projects get funded.

Now, I didn’t catch the very beginning of the stream, but from the point I joined, it was full of hard truths and forward-thinking solutions.

This wasn’t just another chat. It felt like the start of a smarter, more intentional Polkadot.

Builders, the door’s open.
