The United States does not intend to postpone the introduction of tariffs on goods from the European Union due to the possible joining of European countries to sanctions against China and India over the purchase of Russian oil, said US Treasury Secretary Scott Besent.

"These are separate streams of negotiations. One is trade, and the other is an attempt to end this terrible conflict between Russia and Ukraine. And as for ending that conflict – here we are truly united," Besent replied when asked if the US would be willing to withdraw tariffs if the EU agreed to join sanctions against China and India.
