Maybe used at thrift store. Ask whichever neighbor you can bring yourself to approach to take your cell phone number and keep the listening part (or camera) of the monitor. Let them know only that you’d like them to call you if there’s anything loud going on because your mom’s dementia may be putting her at risk. You’re giving them the monitor just in case something is loud and they need a little more information to decide if there’s a problem or it’s just a moment. Why? Let them reach their own conclusions and then you’ll have support to win over the powers that be. Recordings are great but you’re struggling with the cameras. What would really help is witnesses. If they are upstanding, they’ll only listen when strictly necessary. If they are normal, they’ll be nosy. Either way, they’ll form an opinion quite without you needing to characterize the problem. Plus they’ll feel deputized. Permitted. Invited to care. Even if the range doesn’t allow them to listen from within their four walls, it’ll help.
