Tomer was taken hostage by terrorists and held by them inside the kibbutz. At gunpoint, they forced him to knock on neighbors' doors to entice them to open – but Tomer, showing extraordinary bravery, with rare composure and supreme courage, managed to warn and save entire families by claiming that the houses were empty. Tomer Eliaz-Arava was born on September 22, 2006, on Kibbutz Nahal Oz, the third son of Dikla and Ma'yan Eliaz. A 12th grader, a boy with a huge heart, a zest for life, a love of sports and friends – who was always there for everyone. Tomer was killed in battles on the kibbutz, when he was only XX years old. Tomer left behind his father Maayan Eliaz, his brothers – Odin and Stav, and his grandfather – Dov (Dogel) Eliaz. His wonderful memory accompanies us – as a hero, as a boy who stood up to his murderers and acted calmly, and most of all we will remember his magical smile that remained XX years old forever.
