People have absolutely no clue how the economy works and that is why the US economy is on the verge of grinding to a halt. We have had the highest GDP in the world for many years. That will change as

- people are overloaded with debt and cant spend 
- interest rates increase to try (and fail) to balance out our national debt
- tariffs keep pissing off our allies and they reroute trade agreements without us
- companies layoff people to save money because it is too expensive for them to operate under these conditions
