Many Protestants object to the Catholic practice of depicting Christ crucified. 

However, Paul makes a mysterious claim that may indicate the use of holy icons:

O senseless Galatians, who hath bewitched you that you should not obey the truth: before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been set forth, crucified among you? (Gal 3:1)

Galatian Christians didn't watch the actual crucifixion. Paul is likely referring to the Holy Eucharist or an image of the crucifixion.
