In 1970, Israel threatened to crush Assad’s army if he entered Jordan to save Palestinian militias at war with King Hussein, therefore saving the king and his rule.
In 1982, Israel moved heaven and earth to get a powerful Bachir Gemayel elected president of Lebanon to end civil war by ejecting Palestinian militias.
Over past XX years, Israel was accused of turning the blind eye to its enemy Assad only because he was strong, central, and Israel feared civil war and chaos if he collapsed.
Then people who discovered the Mideast last week by reading Wikipedia now join conspiracy theorists who double as pundits, and voila: Israel is evil
