Eighty-two candidates have applied for Cameroon's presidential election, scheduled for mid-October—a historically high number confirmed by the country’s elections body after Monday night’s deadline. 

Among the hopefuls are familiar figures like Bello Bouba Maigari, Maurice Kamto, and Cabral Libii, all making another run for office after switching political parties. The race remains overwhelmingly male, with only seven women in the running.
