Hedera’s tech is super impressive—it’s *theoretically* capable of up to XXXXXX transactions per second (TPS) on its current mainnet, and with planned upgrades and sharding, there are claims it could go *much* higher, potentially into the hundreds of thousands or even millions in the future. 

But so far, the highest real-world TPS observed is around 3,300, which already outpaces most other networks, though network limits and actual demand mean it doesn’t run at the theoretical max all the time. 

So, HBAR’s claims about scaling to millions of TPS are rooted in design, but for now, that kind of performance hasn’t been needed—or seen—in regular operation.
