Rising from the grasslands of Tiya, Ethiopia, this ancient stela is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating to between 10th-15th Centuries CE. Carved with enigmatic symbols, swords, and anthropomorphic figures, these standing stones mark a sacred burial ground of an unknown warrior culture. Weathered by time, the rock’s surface still holds deliberate etchings—lines that echo of ritual and remembrance. Under the open sky, the monolith leans slightly, as if bowing to history, a silent sentinel guarding the stories of the forgotten.
