Even if neither are the absolute finished-article, I’m happy to have the right profile first & foremost. Both have elite potential & are possession-football “naturals”. Simons in particular can be a key player for us right away. Great physical gifts, brilliant technically and great IQ. Perfect fits for our football. Would be great business. Anything on top of that would now be a bonus (RCB/CCB, GK etc), but we can live with it if we don’t sort those. A physical LB/LCB + LW/#10 were the ones that had to get done because we don’t have that type in the squad & it’s key for how we want to likely play. It’s held Maresca back not having those profiles. These are the moves that take a team to that next level and help the coach massively. Super excited for the season if we can seal these. Let’s hope we get both done with no hiccups.
