I believe the Federal Reserve should be independent 

Which its charter

Their dual responsibility is to keep inflation and unemployment under control 

Every President wants them to lower rates to make that Presidency look good 

But low rates in a high growth economy Fuels inflation, resulting in recession and job loss

Richard Nixon Bullied Fed Chair Arthur Burns, resulting in the stagflation that Jimmy Carter inherited.

NIXON: “I respect his independence. However, I hope that, independently, he will conclude that my views are the ones that should be followed.”

The Fed should not be concerned with politics 

Chairman Powell is not

FYI: I’m a Stockman Republican. 

Trumps IQ is about half Powells

If Trump wasn’t XXX % self interest, he’d let Powell do his job

Each Rate decision is made by a vote of XX Fed Board Governors .  It’s not Powells decision.

So if more than X believe it’s time to cut rates , they will.

@SecScottBessent has been the Adult in the room until now.  He needs to get back to data and reasoned communication.

Trump will most certainly take care of the Crazy Talk.
