Making a Sim/Comp/Arcade mode isn't  the way to fix ANY sports game. You're just splitting the resource time for whoever is working on gameplay into however many variations you want. 

Want football? Make football. 
Want basketball? Make basketball.
Want baseball? Make baseball.
