The problem is only being verified on chain does not make them NFT's.

You see, Immutable/StarkEx validium architecture was originally built for the IMX marketplace and third party NFT marketplaces built on IMX. Where token fungibility is not the concern.

They were building zk-rollup architecture for NFT projects. However, they never actually finished building the zk-rollup architecture due to ongoing technical issues.

So instead, they began developing the zk-EVM solution on Polygon.

As a temporary measure, they defaulted all projects to the validium architecture originally built for marketplaces.

So the first issue for me is of course the token fungibility, there are no unique token IDs even being verified on chain at all.
