@WallStreetApes 1) police are under paid. 

2) Dude needs to meet with a financial advisor.

Even in NJ with high taxes this works completely fine. 

Take home is $4,600/mo after taxes, not $4k.

I worked nights for years and years. Overtime SOME of the time is a necessity when young.
