🚨🇺🇸MLK FILES: CIA HAD A FORMER AGENT TURNED MAYOR REPRESENTING JAMES EARL RAY

A 1968 CIA memo reveals Arthur J. Hanes — one-time FBI agent, former CIA confidential informant, and ex-mayor of Birmingham  -  was representing the man accused of killing Dr. King.

From 1952 to 1959, Hanes secretly worked with the CIA while employed at an aircraft company. He was later cleared again to assist the CIA’s legal panel in 1961.

He also helped recruit Alabama National Guard pilots for the Bay of Pigs. Some of those men never came home.

The CIA memo notes Hanes was now in the headlines again - not because of his past spy ties, but because he was defending James Earl Ray.
