But, whilst I format and go over my work, I may as well take the time to answer some questions that I get asked over and over again, just to allay some fears. “Where’s $TRU in the new Verify docs?” "Is v1 being terminated, and why is there no mention of the token and the burn/mint/retire functions any longer?" Here we go: No token talk does not mean that there is no token. I believe that it's a strategic silence to keep the builder pipeline clean and the regulators calm (it's clear if you have followed Truebit from the very beginning that @JasonTeutsch has always had SEC compliance at the forefront of his designs). Truebit is running a dev-first, hype-later playbook (the proper way, I might add). Right now Truebit Verify is the following: • Free compute in which Truebit pays the gas. This gives low friction for onboarding, no wallet headaches etc. • A deterministic WASM sandbox. • Tamper-proof transcripts. • A few Truebit-hosted nodes in public beta. To me, this signals a 'ship product first, and worry about tokenomics later' approach. By omitting TRU from public-facing literature, it guarantees that the Spring 2021 saga does not repeat itself, as it was never their intention for the token to become widely speculated on before the product was ready. Doing it this way with Verify means they kill the "wen moon" noise in their Discord and on X (although some of you still do it😖), it avoids potential regulatory headaches, it lowers distractions for the devs they are trying to invite across in numbers, and it probably gives them the freedom to tweak the fee or slashing maths without on-chain fallout. The transcript samples show "reward 0" and this is Truebit saying "Run your jobs, collect usage data, we'll foot the bills," meaning basically that they are calibrating the meters before plugging in the economy. It's a placeholder for the real fee model, likely to be replaced with TRU later on. You can see other signs of this in other parts of the plumbing, such as in the 'ReadyForInvoice' flag (to me that hints at the tokenised layer is in the code, just taped up for now). The TruebitGod roadmap: X. Prove the tech stack works first, let the builders ship something good. X. Attract serious workloads (AI testing etc.), let the transcripts flow at scale. X. Turn on the 'staking and payments' buttons once everything (demand too) is battle-tested. If you happen to be a dev reading this, contact @Truebitprotocol and test their beta, enjoy zero-cost compute whilst you have it. Feed the system the data it needs. If you happen to be one of those TRU enjoyers, then maintain position and enjoy the calm before the economics. Truebit isn't going to subsidise compute forever; at some point the financial engine has to be turned on. Let the burns do the heavy lifting for the time being. Only in crypto do people want the "IPO" money before the product has found its market fit, Truebit is doing it in the proper order. "Is v1 being terminated, and why is there no mention of the token and the burn/mint/retire functions any longer?"
Here we go:
No token talk does not mean that there is no token.
Right now Truebit Verify is the following:
• Free compute in which Truebit pays the gas.
