Any screen pass discourse is immediately useless if the proper counterfactual isn’t used (e.g., what would their numbers look like if these pass attempts were not screens?). Screen passes will always be lower value on average than non-screen passes. So a screen-heavy offense will almost always hurt a QB’s EPA/play and total EPA versus a regular pass attempt.
