The initial rumours of Hugo Ekitike, to me, always felt lined up as Diogo’s long-term successor. Even some close to the Frenchman suggested he would stay at Frankfurt another year to wait for Anfield. Sadly, tragedy struck. Losing Diogo Jota is bigger than football and it always will be, but in my opinion it’s forced Liverpool to pull next summer’s plan forward. You can’t lose a player of that level & value and not bring someone in. I’d suggest Luis Diaz potentially moving is separate, that’s where Rodrygo or a similar profile comes in. Add in Chiesa possibly leaving, a Danns loan, suitors for Doak and suddenly Liverpool’s reshuffle makes sense, the picture gets clearer.
