I do this to observe the everyday Nigerians. As part of my exercise, I give money to the LAWMA women in the morning, and in the evening, I give money to people that Nigeria has beaten to exhaustion. You can tell a lot from observing people. The anxiety with which they approach work that offers little pay and the exhaustion that wears them out at the close of day. So many people are on the verge of giving up. So many people are beaten up by the problems of life. A whole lot are keeping up appearances. Many people are sick and roughing it. Nigeria has to work. Everyone deserves a living wage and affordable health care. It is not life we are living as a people. Nigeria is a beautiful place to be with our way of life, but our leaders are killing us with inhumane governance. Imagine a Nigeria where minimum wage is at least N300k and healthcare is free with world class hospitals centred in every LGA. There is no era of Nigeria where this has been impossible. Our leaders ensured it isn't. They do this because if you are educated and earn well, they won't be able to weaponize the poverty they have forced on you. But we will make Nigeria work. It has to. The next generation have to have it better.
