We need to stop this self-pity and the arguments rooted in exceptionalism.
Africa is not the only continent that was colonised by Europeans; Asia and the Middle East were also colonised.

Why is Zimbabwe dysfunctional while Singapore is a first-world country, when both were former British colonies and Zimbabwe is mineral rich?

Why are Nigerians suffering under the weight of incompetent and corrupt leadership, when both Nigeria and Qatar were once British colonies?

We have moved beyond the stage of blaming colonialism. We must take full responsibility for our failures and choose a different path. Colonialism planted the seed, but it is our own hands that keep watering the weeds.
