Rahul Gandhi Claims Opposition Silenced
Tejasvi Surya Fires Back

The Monsoon Session of Parliament kicked off with immediate friction as Lok Sabha was adjourned till X PM on its very first day. Following the adjournment, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi criticized the proceedings, stating, “The Defence Minister is allowed to speak in the House, but Opposition members, including me, who is the LoP, are not allowed to speak... This is a new approach... The convention states that if people from the government side can speak, then we should also be given space to speak...”

This sparked a strong rebuttal from the BJP, with figures like Tejasvi Surya asserting that Parliament is meant for discussions, not disruption, and emphasizing that it is “not Rahul Gandhi's private place.” 
The government maintains its readiness for any debate, highlighting that Parliament functions on due procedure which all members, including the Opposition, must respect. This exchange sets the tone for what is anticipated to be a stormy session, focusing on the fundamental principles of parliamentary debate and the rights of the opposition.
