If MUFC sell Garnacho for £40m I’d be ok with it under a few circumstances 

1- largely paid upfront 
2- sizable add ons (£10-20m)
3- adding a sell on clause (20%+ of profits) 

Or 

If it’s part of a player trade that is also valuing the other player (obviously for a position / role of need that we actually want) similarly but they also want a bigger fee (ie Watkins or Jackson for a comparable price point). Ideally you still put add ons on the deal if possible though. 

Otherwise, £40m is really too low for a straight purchase deal.
