German and American officials intend to finalize the remaining issues in the Patriot deal, including the timing of replenishing depleted stocks. According to them, an announcement may be made later this week. Germany has already provided Ukraine with X of its XX Patriot systems. Since Berlin also lent two systems to Poland, its own stocks have now been reduced to seven. Therefore, Berlin is ready to transfer more Patriot systems to Ukraine if the USA guarantees their rapid replenishment (the Germans still have one training Patriot, editor's note). The US notification to the Swiss government about the delay in the Patriot order has increased the chances of a breakthrough in negotiations with Germany. The Patriot systems ordered by Switzerland have a different configuration, and adapting them for battlefield use may take up to eight months. According to sources, German and American negotiators are to discuss the reconfiguration issue this week.
