Go back XX years ago before Bird and Magic and big TV contracts.. what were the players making.. that's the point, right? In 1979 the NBA average salary was $175k. What was the % or revenue at that point, before the leagues popularity and TV deals exploded. It's a chicken and egg deal..

I'm XXX% for the players XXX% of the time. I want them to make every penny they should. If they get XX% of the revenue, what would the average salary be? A lot more than it is now definitely. Can the league survive at that level? Who is subventing it, etc.. Again all for it, but not at the cost of the leagues viability, it is in the early stages of building into something that should take care of all of this..
