Taiwanese Banks Eye GIFT City for India Expansion

Fubon Commercial Bank

•Secured approval from Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) to open a full-service branch in GIFT City, Gujarat, instead of Mumbai—due to favorable tax incentives, plug‑and‑play infrastructure, and strategic positioning. 
•Applications are now pending final clearance from Indian authorities. 

2.CTBC Bank Co. (Flagship of CTBC Financial Holding)

•Received approval from FSC in January 2025 to open a branch in GIFT City. While still in planning stages, it would become the second Taiwanese bank to enter the IFSC hub.
