I think Dean Phillips is right when he makes the case for Democrats prioritizing the achievement of national health insurance with private delivery of care.

Our society -- and economy -- can't function at peak performance without a robust universal health care system.

Parents don't feel confident about starting families.

Entrepreneurs fear losing employer-sponsored insurance and won't start new businesses.

And, as a messaging matter, I believe Phillips is wise to talk about "national health insurance" instead of "universal health care" or "Medicare for All." The latter terms have become pejoratives in the U.S. health care discourse for silly reasons, so best to avoid using them. "Health insurance," however, is a neutral term.
