What is QE?

Quantitative Easing is when central banks buy government (and sometimes corporate) bonds to inject money into the economy.

It started in Japan in the early 2000s, but the U.S. Federal Reserve made it mainstream post-2008—buying over $XXX trillion in assets over several years.
