i had a negative view of Ackman yrs before it became fashionable. 
BUT his ability to claw back above his high water mark after the $JCP $VRX and $HLF debacles was extremely impressive. 
other hedge fund blow ups have never recovered i.e. Lampert, Paulson, Chanos and Einhorn...
