France completed the withdrawal of its last military base in West Africa, officially handing over Camp Geille and associated air facilities to Senegal in Dakar.

This move ends a 65-year presence and signals a shift toward bilateral defense cooperation rather than permanent deployments. This follows similar pullouts in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, and Ivory Coast.
