TSMC Chairman C.C. Wei, speaking during the company’s latest earnings call, revealed that some clients active in both EVs and robotics expect the humanoid robot market to be 10× larger than electric vehicles.

While humanoids won’t drive near-term growth for TSMC, Wei said the market could see explosive growth once it takes off.

He emphasized that every part of a humanoid robot relies on semiconductor components -- “You can’t build robots without TSMC.”
