The Chennai Metro Rail Limited has invited consultants to study ropeway feasibility in Mahabalipuram, Ooty, and Kodaikanal. A proposed 2-km aerial link from the new bus terminal to the Shore Temple is part of the plan. Ropeway stretches along Chennai’s IT corridor are also being explored. The initiative mirrors similar efforts in northern hill states.
