The weird thing is that normally, at the end of a regulation cycle (a specific set of rules for how the cars are to be made), things converge and get closer competitively. This year is the end of a regulation cycle with major changes coming in 2026, but it’s also an anomaly. As you may have seen, 2024 had several winners and closer battles and made 2025 seem like it could be a banger of a season… but 2025 is McLaren dominance with a few sprinkles of others here and there. They figured something out with managing their tyres in a way the others haven’t. That doesn’t often happen at the very end of a regulation cycle. And 2026 could be a total reset for the teams. The weird thing is that normally, at the end of a regulation cycle (a specific set of rules for how the cars are to be made), things converge and get closer competitively. This year is the end of a regulation cycle with major changes coming in 2026, but it’s also an anomaly.
