If property taxes are removed, they will need to be replaced with another tax. Maybe that is more fair, since renters benefit from public services the same as owners. Then again, you could make the argument that rent prices factor the property taxes paid by owners. Ultimately, the costs for police, fire, parks, roads (in many cases), schools, and more are not going to simply go away.
