The ultimate paradox. The question isn't why Patel didn't release files before 2020. It's why, after years of alleging a cover-up, his first act as FBI Director is to announce the conspiracy theories "just aren't true." The promise becomes the problem.

Remember Dec 2023, when Patel accused the Biden admin of hiding the list? Fast forward to the Trump admin's own July 7, 2025 memo finding "no incriminating 'client list'." When that truth proved inconvenient, Trump simply ordered Patel on July XX to pivot from Epstein and investigate the "Stolen Election of 2020" instead.

The files were a political key to unlock the door to power. Once inside, the admin has no use for the key, only the lock.
