Recent neuroscience tends to focus more on the brain as a sophisticated information processor, with some studies showing that neural circuits can "tune" into different frequencies (like a radio), but this is about internal communication between brain regions rather than receiving external consciousness signals. 

There's ongoing debate and curiosity around whether consciousness is produced purely by the brain or if it could involve some "field" the brain interacts with, but so far, scientific evidence for the brain as a literal consciousness antenna is lacking.
