You can and this is valid, especially for a swing trade targeting ATH (still gives good R:R). 

What you can do is run two

1) Swing

2) One more dialled in where you take a LTF trigger so you can have a tighter invalidation (D1 HTF -> H1 Entry)

Most of my trades I'm doing the latter (with a LTF trigger + invalidation)
