Thanks, I have read monetary history. 

China’s adherence to a silver standard towards the end of bimetalism was a disastrous decision as others moved to a gold standard. Silver’s monetary characteristics are weak. 

Like the retirement of shells, beads or Rai stones before monetary metals, this shows that money is a technology that can be usurped by new, superior monetary technology.
