Speculative guess.

Convinced the #Phillies are going to feel more comfortable with Wheeler/Sanchez/Nola or Painter as the X starters in the playoffs with Ranger Suarez coming out behind each of them. 

Ranger followed by their bullpen addition with Luzardo + as options. It’s almost not bullpen but another shutdown starter to give them the best chance early in the postseason until the rotation grows.  Dave & the organization feel extremely comfortable w Ranger in that position.
