TIGER PARENTING:
Many tiger parents come from backgrounds where failure meant serious consequences such as poverty and discrimination. For them, pushing their children to succeed is a way to protect them from hardship. While this makes sense from the survival perspective, it can create an emotional distance with the kids. When they feel that love and approval from their parents depend on their achievements, they become anxious and disconnected from their true selves. A balance is therefore needed to develop the kids emotionally while teaching discipline and strong work ethics.
