It is ok to care about strains of American culture and history. Horrors of the past can be confronted without erasing an entire cultural heritage. France Germany Britain Spain, the US South, all have horrific racism in their pasts; what an excellent excuse for erasing all those cultures. But Morocco, Egypt, Yemen, Rwanda, Sierra Leone also have horrible ethnic atrocities in their past. No one calls to erase those cultures in penance.
