They hurl the same tired accusation: “Are you justifying the massacre of the Druze?” Let’s flip that around: Are you justifying the atrocities committed by the Druze militias? Because guess what X both sides committed horrors. Brutalities were documented. On both ends. This was war. People died here, people died there. That’s what war is. If I explain why it happened, that doesn’t mean I’m justifying it. It means I’m doing what you’re too cowardly or too dishonest to do: confronting uncomfortable truths. And to my Israeli readers - some of whom I actually respect - the question is: do you want a friend who tells you the truth, even when it’s hard to hear, or do you prefer sycophants who tell you what you wish were true? I don’t do propaganda. I don’t play team cheerleader. I offend everyone equally - because the region deserves reality, not fantasy. I’m not here to coddle feelings.
