There’s a growing sense Alexander Isak has asked Newcastle to at least hear out what Liverpool might put on the table, for him and for the club.

Him being left out “due to speculation” wasn’t random. The follow-up briefings make it clear, he’s asked the question behind the scenes.

Eddie Howe publicly hinting the rumours got to him feels like the club might be ready to make Isak look like the problem if he pushes.

Financially, Liverpool can do it. Will they? Too early to call… but I’d say this isn’t dead because of the Ekitike deal.
