I agree with the ANC on this issue. Jacob Zuma has every right to support whoever he wants as an individual or as a member of a political party called MK.

But using South Africa’s flag to endorse a colonial occupation that South Africa officially opposes was both unethical and misleading, it was corrupt.
It undermines South Africa’s credibility, and it dishonours the memory of African solidarity and anti-colonial struggles.

A national flag is a symbol of the state, not a political tool for factional or partisan use. Using it as Zuma did while promoting a cause in direct contradiction to South Africa’s foreign policy misrepresents the nation’s stance and could falsely suggest state-level endorsement of Morocco’s colonial claim over Western Sahara.

The national flag is a symbol of the state, not a political tool for factional or partisan use. Using it while promoting a cause in direct contradiction to South Africa’s foreign policy, one which you also endorsed when you were president of the nation, misrepresents the nation’s stance and could falsely suggest state-level endorsement of Morocco’s claim over Western Sahara.

We know why Zuma did this; Floyd Shivambu told us that MK was receiving money from Morocco. To do so while abusing the national flag is deeply corrupt and utterly disgraceful.

As Africans, we must follow ideas and not personalities. Defending what Zuma did simply because you are an MK member makes you a clown who cannot tell right from wrong and merely follows the wind.
