Dr Jotello F Soga with his Scottish wife, c early 1900s. Dr Soga was the son of the Xhosa minister Rev Tiyo Soga. He was not only the first Black South African to qualify as a veterinary surgeon, he was the first EVER South African to qualify (the second qualified in 1912).
