Amir,

A quick glance at my timeline would make one thing abundantly clear: I’ve been consistently critical - not just critical, but downright hostile - toward Hezbollah and Iran’s apocalyptic ideology, strategy, and terror apparatus. ISIS and Al-Qaeda would love nothing more than seeing me a head shorter and six feet under. That’s not up for debate. During the 12-day war, my position was unambiguously pro-Israel. So frankly, I have no idea where you’re getting the idea that I’m somehow antagonistic toward Israel.

Let me be clear: I reserve the right - as any rational observer should - to call out bad policy when I see it. That doesn’t make me “anti-Israel” any more than criticizing Saudi Arabia makes me anti-Saudi, or pointing out American blunders makes me anti-American. It’s called intellectual honesty.

If Israel is pursuing a short-sighted, self-defeating strategy, I’m going to say it. And I would say the same about any actor, anywhere. My allegiance isn’t just to a flag, a tribe, or a narrative - it’s to sound judgment. The world, as I see it, is divided not by borders or creeds, but by intelligence: the smart and the stupid. I side with the smart, regardless of where they come from, and I call out the dumb, no matter what banner they wave.

Smart decisions are rooted in deep analysis, historical context, and a clear-eyed understanding of consequences, not in knee-jerk fear, reactionary simplifications, or emotional outbursts masked as strategy.

So I hope that clarifies things. I criticize stupidity, not identities.
