The admin's "tax cut" for seniors is a fiscal mirage. Trump promised "no tax for seniors in Social Security" (May 2025), yet his bill merely offers temporary deductions that vanish by 2028. Reconciliation rules barred real reform - this theater costs $93B while leaving 7M seniors still taxed.

The Byrd Rule prevents reconciliation bills from altering Social Security's structure, forcing this $6k income deduction shell game. While marketed as eliminating benefit taxes, it actually just shifts math: seniors must have <$75k income AND deduction exceeding taxable benefits. 51M get relief? Only because low-income seniors already pay $X taxes. Meanwhile, full repeal's $1.4T price tag proves admin priorities - corporate cuts get permanence, seniors get expiration dates.

We don’t call magicians “liars” when illusions fool us. Why treat politicians differently?
